The sink grid itself is fine. The main problem I have discovered is when lifting or moving the grid to clean it, the little rubber bumpers that are along the edges come off so easily. There’s a slit in the bumpers that allow you to easily (perhaps too easily) remove it. When I clean it, these pop off and, if I’m not quick, they will go down the drain.

Worst engineering design for something as simple as a sink bottom grid. The rubber bumpers along the side of the grid are constantly falling off, thus ending up in the garbage disposal. There must be a better way, unfortunately it isn’t with this design.

When we moved last year, we ended up with a different/inferior brand sink grid. I’ve been looking all over for a better grid that will fit our sink. Apparenly, our size sink isn’t being sold anymore. I finally found this grid online at Lowe’s. It is better stainless steel, has rubber feet and bumpers so the sides don’t scratch the sink.
I am very happy with it. One small drawback is that the bumpers move around a bit and could come of during drying.

When we remodeled our kitchen we went with our contractors recommended sink. Should have researched and done a better job checking sink size and durability. Kitchen is beautiful but our sink is a no-name brand that’s a non-standard size and scratches if you just look at it. After searching and searching and searching I couldn’t find a stainless steel sink protector that was the right size and shape with the drain hole at the center back. Our sink is 16.5 wide 14.5 length. The Elkay Crosstown bottom grid fits PERFECTLY! I just put it in so can’t comment on how it will hold up but so far I’m just happy I no longer have to worry about the endless scratches on the bottom of my sink.

I bought a large single bowl granite sink with a right hand drain made by someone else. Apparently that brand does not make a sink grid for that sink. I found this one through extensive searching by size. And while it fits my sink almost perfectly, there are some flaws. I’ve so far lost 5 of the bumpers, I assume to my garbage disposal. I won’t ding Elkay too too hard for this as it may be a function of the less than exact fit. My grid has about 3/4 inch space all the way around so it has a lot of movement while you’re working. And I use my sink a LOT. What I don’t like are the feet on the sink bottom. They’re great in concept, but in actuality, while they protect the sink bottom from scratching, they also hold water (and who knows what else?) as there is no drain hole in them. I always make sure I run water over them for a little while before shutting the water off. The legs look like they’re rusting, ut at least there’s no food in there.
I’ve removed all the bumpers, and I’ll eventually remove the legs, clean the feet thoroughly, and reinstall them, but I’ll pour some liquid plastic into the void after. Once that dries it’ll be perfect.
